Māui Solomon descendant of the ‘last pure Moriori’ mentioned has spent 40 years promoting the Moriori culture, and says unfortunately this isn’t anything new to him.

“A lot of the things we are doing now, they likely won't benefit this generation, but they will benefit our children and grandchildren. That's what we're looking towards,”

Rēkohu musician Ajay Peni is bringing traditional Moriori songs into contemporary times.

Moriori have created the petition to see if Kiwis will support the idea.
