The extension for public submissions for the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Bill ends at 1pm today.
The extension was granted after at least 150,000 people tried to make their submissions on the final day, with many instead running into error pages due to technical issues on the evening of January 7.
This caused outrage online with many people calling for an extension from both political sides. Many MPs advised their supporters how to submit via email or mail.
All three opposition parties sent letters to the Justice Committee, which is overseeing the bill, to make an extension - which was granted on January 9 for the final date being January 14 at 1 pm.
The bill’s architect, Act leader David Seymour, is proposing major changes to how Te Tiriti o Waitangi is interpreted in modern-day Aotearoa, accusing bodies like the courts and the public service of making decisions on the Treaty should be interpreted behind closed doors.
Tens of thousands marched across Aotearoa in November in opposition of the bill, including a reported 42,000 people in Wellington - though that figure is widely disputed and believed to be higher.
It is the second bill authored by Seymour that the public has had their say on this week, with public consultation for the Regulation Standards Bill closing on Monday night.
Submissions can be made on the Parliament website until 1pm this afternoon.
