Activist group Reanga Taketake are hosting a Sub-A-Thon this evening at Te Pou Theatre.
The Sub-A-Thon will celebrate the hard work put in by communities, from the hīkoi to the wānanga and workshops surrounding the Treaty Principles Bill.
This event gives whānau an opportunity to submit their voices and opinions and will feature music, arts, spoken word poetry, kapa haka, and siva.
In the spirit of a “telethon,” there will be a live submission scoreboard, fun games inspired by the 80s and 90s, and interactive audience participation, all alongside plenty of kai and drinks.
The event runs from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at Te Pou Theatre, 2 Mt Lebanon Lane, Henderson, Tāmaki Makaurau.

Jordyn with a Why
Jordyn with a Why is a Māori-Sāmoan RnB artist who has quickly shaped Aotearoa music with her soulful reo rua sounds. She was awarded the Māori Music Awards Best Female Artist in 2023 and the APRA Maioha Award in 2024. Hibiscus Moon, Love and Justice, her first album was released last September.
Tigilau Ness
Tigilau Ness is a long-time political activist and reggae artist from Niue who founded various bands in Aotearoa since the 1970’s and was also involved in founding the Polynesian Panthers. He is also the father of hip-hop artist Che-Fu.
Summund Ensemble
Rand Hazou is a Palestinian theatre facilitator and scholar who has delivered theatre workshops for youth in Palestine. In Aotearoa he has led teaching and creative projects engaging with prison, aged-care and street communities. In 2019 he directed Ngā Pātū Kōrero: Walls That Talk and in 2024 for Auckland Fringe Festival he directed Asra, Stories of Palestinian Prisoners.
Acacia O’Connor (Ngāti Porou and Tainui) is a writer, director, actor and teacher. She graduated Toi Whakaari in 2017 and has worked extensively across theatre and film. O’Connor has performed in Racists Anonymous (2021) and directed The Trials (2023). In 2024 she performed in Asra, Stories of Palestinian Prisoners, was Artistic Producer of The Gaza Dialogues and the Artistic Director of the Palestinian cultural Festival of Sumud.
