Ngāti Pāoa’s health and social service, E Tipu e Rea, is hosting a submission-writing gathering for young parents and their whānau on the Treaty Principles Bill.
The get-together in a “welcoming space” for young whānau is on Monday, December 16 at E Tipu e Rea’s Panmure premises in Tāmaki Makaurau from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
“Come along, have a kai, have a kōrero, write a submission and let’s have tea,” a smiling kaikōrero for the service dedicated to supporting tamariki wellbeing says in a reel posted to social media earlier this week.

E Tipu e Rea mana amorangi (CEO), Zoe Hawke (Ngāti Pāoa), says young whānau are eager to voice their views.
“We’ve never had so much engagement from young parents wanting to have a say and we see participation in democratic processes as a fundamental right and are determined to reduce barriers that may prevent our young whānau from being heard,” she said on Wednesday.
Hawke credited the coalition government for uniting whānau around the kaupapa and encouraged young parents to make their voices heard.
“In recent months, we’ve had significant feedback from our mātua taiohi (young parents) and their whānau who have expressed the need to engage in the submissions process, so that is something we can thank this coalition government for.
“We invite all mātua taiohi and their whānau to join us in this important gathering to ensure their voices are heard and are contributing to shaping policies that reflect their lived realities and aspirations.”
