Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWOA) will pause face-to-face teaching for the next two weeks. TWOA issued a statement explaining the situation.
The decision comes as educational institutions across the country are creating and implementing plans to combat the spread of Coronavirus. TWOA CEO Te Ururoa Flavell explains:
“This course of action will help to provide some comfort to our students and their whānau who may be feeling anxious about attending classes and noho at this challenging time."
Starting from today, all face-to-face classes will cease until Sunday 5 April. Noho marae and one-day wānanga are suspended as well.
In the meantime, TWOA will be preparing for delivering their programmes online should COVID-19 alert levels escalate.
Flavell continues:
“We will be contacting all our tauira from today to prepare them for these measures, and to ensure that they have support plans in place to continue their learning away from campus.”
Campus facilities will remain open to those who need support services.
