Deidre Walker, the wife of the late Māori academic and writer Dr Ranginui Walker has passed away at the age of 85. She leaves behind 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 14 great children.
Son Michael Walker says “She was a very much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."
Ranginui Walker and Deidre Walker met when they both attended Auckland Teachers’ College.
“Without her, he would not have been as successful as he was," says Michael.
Walker passed at 4pm yesterday afternoon at Auckland Hospital.
A service for Deidre will be held at Tātai Hono at Holy Sepulchre Church in Khyber Pass Rd this Saturday morning.
